On Sunday, the 28th of August, 2022, a celebration was held to honor Reverend Maurice Abasilim on his 25th anniversary of Ordination in to the priesthood. Fr. Maurice celebrated Mass, alongside many of his Nigerian friends who were also priests, lead by a procession of Knights of Columbus into the church. Immediately following Mass, family members, visitors, and many parishioners of St Mary and St Theresa churches retired to the hall to celebrate Fr. Maurice’s ordination and to express thanksgiving for his ministry. They were served a full lunch starting with appetizers of cheese, crackers and different flavored meatballs, fine wine, and non alcoholic beverages. Then after came a two coarse meal of beef and turkey, along side some classic Nigerian dishes like plantains, Nigerian curry, and much more. Holy Water was blessed by Fr Maurice during the celebration. The celebration concluded with the a few songs sung by the African choir from Concord, and the distribution of gifts to Fr. Maurice consisting of Holy Water, scapulars, and numerous prayer cards.
